Artist's Statement

This work is a continuation of a series of works called Golden Truths. The first was completed in 2006 and formed part of a solo show entitled Sleep Sleep, which looked broadly at war and religious fundamentalism. This read “What would Oprah Say” and was called Mediated Morality. A second work on the show in the same format read “Our Religion Must Win”. In 2008 I exhibited a work called Brotherhood, which read “Osama Bin Cohen”: I was reflecting on religious similarities and notions of humanity, and on parallels in religious violence. Culture attempts to ridicule the media as facilitators of prejudice and answers the original question, “What would Oprah Say?”
