Artist's Statement

The traces left by each and every artist have an impact on the land in some form. This impact can be either detrimental or constructive in terms of ecological sustainability, no matter what the context of the art or artist. The collection of spent and discarded paint integrated in 24,925kg landscape ranges from that belonging to an acclaimed international artist to the leftover paint of a local house painter. As physical matter, the paint can be considered as landscape due to its destiny as landfill before being transformed through incorporation in an artwork. Therefore, as reclaimed land, the weight of the paint informs the title of the artwork.
