Artist's Statement

For the past decade or so, I have been pursuing the theme, ‘the city’, in all its various facets, yet always focussing on the commuters’ plight and their reliance on the minibus taxi for commuting to and from the township. This triptych of works of charcoal on brown paper panels displays an aerial view of a minibus procession, in which the minibuses assume the scarred shapes of ‘moving coffins’, as they are sometimes called.
