Artist's Statement
Three red telephones remain unanswered on plinths. They are covered by glass vitrines and the calls are muffled. As much as this is a comment on multiple global political climates, it is a work of personal apathy.
Artist's Biography
Born: Welkom, 1978. Lives and works in Cape Town. Received his BA(FA) in 2001 and his MFA in 2005 from the University of Cape Town. Major exhibitions: Locust Projects, Miami; Blank Projects, Bell Roberts Gallery and South African National Gallery, in Cape Town; NSA, Durban; Lewis Glucksman Gallery, Cork; Hayward Gallery, London; Kunsthaus Baselland, Basel; Figge von Rosen Galerie, Cologne; Castello di Rivoli d’arte Contemporanea di Torino, Turin.
